Portrait of Frida K

Freely inspired by the “Two Fridas” – a double self-portrait by Frida Kahlo. It is a portrait and homage to the woman and artist I adore. It was often through clothes that she wore (and portrayed herself in) that the artist stressed her double identity as European and Mexican. The dresses in my work were especially made or customized to refer to both Fridas and photographed against the dramatic and recognizable background of the Dutch sky. This work was made especially to be presented together with the Las Las Niñas project.
