CMYK color printing with casein

Tech-fellow residency at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam for my research about color printing of photograph using casein and DAS as alternative to the gum bichromate process.

In an age dominated by digital photography and instant printing techniques, the art of gum bichromate printing stands as a nostalgic tribute to the roots of image-making. This printing process dates from the 19 century, it’s well known all over the world and still used nowadays among the printmakers and photographers. My fascination with gum bichromate stems from a profound desire to connect with the past, to embrace the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic sensibilities of bygone eras. The tactile nature of this process, with its hand-coated emulsions and unpredictable results, offers a stark contrast to the clinical precision of modern digital prints.
